Hey everyone, as I promised I want to tell you about my inspiration for the gameplay of 15switches. It is a really interesting story with a good lesson for anyone trying to be creative so let’s get started!
The idea for 15switches game to me when I was making my previous app, Fidget App. One of the aspects of Fidget App was a couple of switches that had hidden properties that could only be understood through fidgeting. There was also something very satisfying about turning switches on and off. So I figured why not turn it into a game!
I also drew a lot of inspiration from wooden puzzle boxes. You might be wondering, how in the world could a mobile app with nothing to interact with besides switches be inspired by puzzle boxes. The thing I find most intriguing and frustrating about puzzle boxes is the fact that you can’t solve them just by looking at them. You have to just play around with them and try new things. And that is the same feeling I wanted to capture with 15switches. There is no way to solve a challenge without just buckling down and putting some good old fashioned brain power to work.
This teaches an important lesson in the creative process. Inspiration can come from anywhere. However when you are inspired, and you likely will be very often if you are a creative person, it is better to see a project through than to abandon everything and move on to something different. Because at the end of the day it is better to have a few completed projects under your belt than a plethora of incomplete ones.
I hope everyone is enjoying playing the game as much as I enjoyed making it. Please don’t forget to share the game with your friends and give it positive ratings on the App Store!
